How to Create the Upsell Flow

✅ Upsell Flow Objective

The goal of the Upsell Flow is to take advantage of the post-purchase moment to offer complementary or higher-value products aligned with the customer’s interests and needs, thereby strengthening their relationship with the brand.

👉 Trigger

Trigger: Order created
Filter: Optional (Specific product category or collection, to offer complementary products.)
Delay: 4 to 30 days. Depending on the product.
Condition: Depends on the product.

⚙️ General Configuration of the Flow

Audience: can be the entire audience or just a specific segment.

Trigger event: we’ll need to select the connector, Shopify, which sends the event, and the event name: Shopify → Order created.

Cancellation event: this is the event that, if it occurs, will prevent the message from being sent.

  • Order created: meaning that if the customer places a second order, we won’t send the message.

  • Never cancel: whenever a customer buys from a specific product collection, we’ll suggest a complementary item.

    For example, if they shoes, we’ll suggest purchasing running socks.

📨 Configure the message:

Waiting time: this is the period we’ll wait from the moment the order is placed until the upsell offer is sent. The waiting time depends on the product, but we’ll be ready to send a message a few days after the purchase.

Sender and message content: in this case, it will be a message encouraging the customer to purchase an upgrade or a complementary product to the one they originally bought.

⚙️ Delivery settings

  • Activation limit: This is the limit on how many review requests we’ll send each time the customer makes a purchase. You can set it to be sent only once per contact.

  • Send this automation: Always send

  • Save and activate
