Connecting ActiveCampaign allows you to access all your contacts, their information, and their historical and real-time events. This way, you can easily create segments, send personalized campaigns, and set up automations
To integrate ActiveCampaign and Instasent, you must follow these steps:
1. Create a Project and connect ActiveCampaign
When creating a project, you can directly connect your account, or if you already have a project, go to the Data Sources section and select ActiveCampaign.
An overview will be available showing all the information you can import, most importantly: existing contacts, synchronization of new and updated contacts, and reception of real-time events. You will need to click on 'Install ActiveCampaign'.
2. Connect
You will need to connect your ActiveCampaign account, specifying your API Url and API Key, available in the Settings > Developer section.
Click on 'Connect ActiveCampaign account'.
3. Map
Your contacts in ActiveCampaign contain a series of data. We will call these fields or values 'Attributes'. Besides your ActiveCampaign contacts, you can connect many more technologies, import data in .CSV, etc.
Therefore, each field must be assigned a specific name, avoiding creating duplicate attributes (for example, the 'Name' attribute might be called 'First Name' in ActiveCampaign, and 'name' in a .CSV, but in Instasent it must be a single field for greater data accuracy).
By mapping, you ensure that each piece of data is placed in its correct project attribute. Although we try to automatically match the project attributes, variations in names or data structures can cause inconsistencies. Therefore, it is vital that you review the suggested mapping and adjust if necessary.
4. Merge*
*If this is the first data source you are connecting, this step will not appear yet.
Remember that you can connect many data sources (multiple .CSV files, spreadsheets, different technologies like Make, Shopify, Klaviyo, etc.). Instasent unifies and groups all this audience coming from all these sources.
Based on what value will you unify potential duplicate data from among your different data sources? If you choose, for example, the email, all contacts with the same email will be unified and their information will be aggregated. You can find more information in this article.
5. Tags
It involves tagging these contacts. Keep in mind that we import tags from ActiveCampaign, so this is about adding an additional tag.
Once these steps are confirmed, you will have this connector available in the Data Sources section, where you can have an overview and activity. You will also be able to send the first campaign. All contacts will be available in the Audience section, where you can apply filters and create segments.
