Connecting Intercom allows you to access all your contacts, their information, and their historical and real-time events. They will be synchronized periodically, making it a very simple way to load new contacts and update existing ones. This enables you to easily create segments, send personalized campaigns, and set up automations.

To connect Intercom with Instasent, please follow these steps:

1. Create a Project and connect Intercom

When creating a project, you can directly connect your account, or if you already have a project, go to the Data Sources section and select Intercom.

An overview will be available showing all the information you can import: your contacts and their information, as well as historical and real-time events. You must click on 'Install Intercom'.

2. Connect

You will need to connect your Intercom account, granting read permissions. To delete your contacts, you can remove the integration from the Data Sources section.

Click 'Connect Intercom account'; a modal will open where you must enter your credentials.

3. Mapear

Your contacts contain a series of data in Intercom. We will call these fields or values 'Attributes'. Keep in mind that, in addition to Intercom, you can connect many more technologies, import data in .CSV, etc.

Therefore, each field must have a specific name assigned, avoiding creating duplicate attributes (for example, the 'Name' attribute may be called 'Name' in Intercom, but it can be called 'First name' in a .CSV file or in another app, but in Instasent it must be a single field for greater data accuracy).

By mapping, you ensure that each piece of data is placed in its correct attribute. Although we try to automatically match the attributes, variations in names or data structure can cause inconsistencies. Therefore, it is vital that you review the suggested mapping and adjust if necessary.

4. Merge*

*If this is the first data source you are connecting, this step will not appear yet.

Remember that you can connect many data sources (multiple .CSV files, spreadsheets, different technologies like Make, Shopify, Klaviyo, etc.). Instasent unifies and groups all this audience coming from all these sources.

Based on what value will you unify potential duplicate data from among your different data sources? If you choose, for example, the email, all contacts with the same email will be unified and their information will be aggregated. You can find more information in this article.

5. Tags

It involves tagging these contacts. Keep in mind that we import tags from Intercom, so this is about adding an additional tag

Once these steps are confirmed, you will have this connector available in the Data Sources section, where you can have an overview and check activity data. You will also be able to send the first campaign. All contacts will be available in the Audience section, where you can apply filters and create segments.
