To send SMS and RCS messages to Spanish numbers, you must register your aliases with the CNMC. You can do this through Instasent or directly from the CNMC's Electronic Office.
To register without using Instasent, you must access this link: https://sede.cnmc.gob.es/tramites/telecomunicaciones/gestion-del-registro-de-alias
You will need Cl@ve or a valid digital certificate to interact with public administrations in Spain.
Once you access the process, the steps to follow are:
1. Applicant.
Indicate on whose behalf you are acting:
Select "On my own behalf" if you are accessing with the company's electronic certificate or with a certificate that already authorizes you to act on behalf of your company.
Select "On behalf of" if you are accessing with your personal certificate to submit the application on behalf of the company. This is the usual case if you work for the company but are not its legal representative.
Enter the company's tax identification number (NIF) and company name, as well as its address
Very important: When the application is submitted "On behalf of," the representative will receive a notification from the CNMC (National Markets and Competition Commission) and will have 10 business days to authorize it and sign the declaration of legitimate affiliation. To do so, they must have a valid digital certificate.
2. Application Type
Select "Alias Registration."
3. Representative of the Holder
Click on "Add Representative," enter the details of the company's legal representative: name, ID/NIE number, email address, and telephone number. Check "Receive notifications."
The representative must be the person with the legal capacity to bind the company, not simply the marketing person managing the registration.
4. Complete the Alias Details
Click "Add Alias" and indicate:
The alias you use: that is, the sender of your messages
Message type: SMS/MMS or RCS.
Activation date: Select today's date.
Legitimate link, that is, why you have the right to register this alias. Choose the option that best fits your situation, and in the "Specify which one it is" section, you can write a brief explanatory note.
Providers: Instasent Mobile Advertising SL.
Third parties (optional): Only if there is an intermediary between your company and Instasent. For example, a marketing agency or SMS sending software.
Click "Add Alias" if you wish to register multiple SMS and RCS senders in the same process.
Once you have indicated all your aliases, click "Review and submit." After authorization by the legal representative, the application will be pending review by the CNMC (National Markets and Competition Commission).
